Goodbye

Goodbye

Hi everyone,

This will be my last post here on So Effortless. Thank you for all your endless support and motivation to keep this blog going. It has been with me for over half of my degree and I have met so many amazing people through it, I will be forever thankful.

The decision to close So Effortless came with the lack of time to look after it, and also due to its focus, as this was a personal blog about university experiences, and I am finishing university in a weeks time.

Again thank you so much for just being here and reading, it has been a pleasure. The website and Instagram page will be active so you can refer back to it, I just will no longer be monitering it.

For the last time,

Love, Kasia x

First Holiday Of 2021

First Holiday Of 2021

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I have done a post here on So Effortless, being busy with university and applying to full-time roles as I finish my degree in about a month… that’s so scary to type! Anyway, I am not going to go into detail about why I have been away, you can see a few of my previous posts on that matter.

Still busy as ever as I am doing the final touches on all assignments now, but I have found time to write the odd small post or two ❀

Today’s post is a photo story, my favourite kind of post! Really insightful into my life and a good way to keep a public diary I suppose. Anyhow, here is my Glamping photo story, I hope you enjoy!

Arriving:

If you don’t know, Glamping means glamourous camping, and for me and my boyfriend, we decided to rent a little rural hut by the lake for 4 nights. We were both excited as this would be our 4th book holiday since the pandemic, but also stressed for this reason as we did not want a 4th holiday cancellation. But we got there in the end with the excitement packed, starting to push away the stress of university for the next week. As you can tell I was very excited about the hot tub, which is very ironic, you will find out later why πŸ˜‰

The first day:

This was also the arrival day but check-in was at 3pm, so we had some time left of the day, after my boyfriend put some wood in the hot tub fire, we were in as quickly as possible to start relaxing and ended our day with a fire pit and some hot tea in the night.

The second day:

We woke up early, we some breakfast made by yours truly, and got off on a walk around the area. We started our favourite activity of β€œOh my God look how nice that house is, I would buy that house, but I would change this”, said hello to the cows on the way and again back in the hot tub for some relaxation.

The third day:

Nothing much was done on this day, this is a holiday after all, just some board games and eating lots of good food. Just one specific detail I am still dealing with today, I got a hot tub rash, no clue how and obviously I won’t show it but trust me, it hurts.

The fourth day:

We took a little trip to the town nearby, look at some farmers market stands and came home for our last night in the hut. We again set up the fire pit, no hot tub of course, and spent the night looking at the stars, being upset that its our last night of course, but we had some visitors!

Going home:

On Friday morning it was time to check out, upset of course but enjoyed the break. Now more than ever in a rush to finish university and get to the next stage of our life.

I hope you have enjoyed this photo story, see you next week for another post!

Stay Safe, Kasia x

A Peak In To My Diary

A Peak In To My Diary

Hi everyone,

On my Instagram last week, I conducted a poll for my followers (find the link on my contacts page to my account), choosing random pages out of a book, which they did not know the reason to. This was to choose the next topic of my blog post, which is this one! Earlier this year I found a book called “Burn after Writing”, its kind of a diary book with questions to prompt your writing, it’s really good for self-reflection so I recommend it. Some of my followers chose which pages (46-47 were chosen mostly) get published with my answers, see below and tell me what you think:

  1. If I could give one thing to a person it would be … I would give my grandparents a trip to France, Paris exactly. My nan has always dreamed of going to Paris but they have never done so, so it is a wish of mine to send them to Paris one day for her dreams to come true.
  2. Things that make me laugh … That would have to be The Big Bang Theory, because I love sitcoms like that, also stand up comedy on Netflix has a spot in my heart, even though most of it is terrible. Another thing would be my dogs; they always do something silly every day that makes me smile.
  3. I secretly envy … most of the skinny influencers on my Instagram feed, but who doesn’t? To have a life like that, for countless surgeries and diets, the dream …
  4. If I could be anywhere in the world right now … I would be in Egypt. This is my dream holiday destination and I always wish to see the pyramids in real life. I even have a little secret goal one day when I go, to take home a small chunk of a pyramid. To some, its just rocks but to me its history that I love.
  5. If I could be a fly on the wall … I would spy on my neighbours to find out what they are always yelling about πŸ˜›
  6. My greatest fear … dying. Anyone who knows me personally, and now you, knows that my fear of death is so terrible, mostly at night time when there is nothing else to think about. The worst thing is I don’t even know where it came from, pandemic? Who knows but this only occurred in the last year or so. Also, it’s odd being afraid of something you can’t stop.

I Hope you enjoyed this post, it is a little different than usual but I enjoyed it, let me know if you want me to do this again! Sorry for the late post aswell, I bet you are all sick of hearing my blame it on my dissertation but my fellow students will be able to relate.

Short Intermission

Short Intermission

Hi All

Just writing a small update on where I have been. I missed my last 2 blog posts simply because I have not had time. My dissertation is swollowing up my time and any freedom I have so for now I will be skipping this weeks post too, and will be back for regualar posts on the 21st Feb.

This year my posting may be irregular until May (when my thesis is due) I hope you can understand. I love writing and making new content but the education I am paying for needs to come first right now!

I miss writing and hope to have some free time for it again soon, for now stay safe! I can always be reached on my social media on the contacts page ❀

21st Birthday

21st Birthday

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to do a quick photo story of my 21st birthday in lockdown and what I managed to get up to. Of course, it was not the birthday I imagined as most will celebrate this year and have last year, but I am grateful for what I got. Missing friends and no big party to attend, we had to make the best of what we had.

I got the ballons I always dreamed of, when I turned 18 I had no big party or anything, so I had always wanted the 18 and 21 ballons the girls have in their Instagram pictures for their birthdays, so I was very happy to see them and many others. We enjoyed some champagne and cake, with the little 21 sparkle candles that made it so much more special. Received lots of nice gifts and cards, even all the way from the south of the UK from my best friend, who unfortunately I could not see.

Heres to 21, many more adventures, happiness, achievements and getting rid of this damn pandemic! Let’s see what this chapter holds.

My Experience Of Taking In A Stray

My Experience Of Taking In A Stray

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share with you my experience of taking in a stray dog and what has happened over the month of having her in my home. Maybe it might convince you to try adopting a stray too after you hear someone else’s experiences.

Mortishia is nearly 2 years old (we think) and her story is that she was found in a cornfield in the middle of now where in the countryside in Poland, probably dumped by someone, and she was walking around alone for nearly 9 months. People in the area saw her and fed her sometimes, but she was terrified of them so always kept her distance. The lady who we got her from was notified and it took her 3 months to catch her as she was so sneaky! They had many vet visits to attend as she was not in a very good state, but once finished, she was on the way to us here in the UK.

She arrived on the 17th Decemeber, which we will treat as her birthday, via a pet bus transport which took 2 days! Once she arrived we signed the relevant paperwork, payed for the transport and she was ours for keeping.

When she was first alone with us, she ran and hid behind an armchair we have in the living room, under the beds, would not sit still etc, she was terrified of us which we understood completely. We were all so upset as we wondered what could have been done to this dog that she was so afraid of people. It was also time for her first bath, as being in a crate in the pet bus for 2 days was not the best, the workers were not allowed to take her out as she has a history of running away. She didn’t struggle at all, probably due to fear, and we popped her down into her new doggy bed in my room by my bed, where is now always sleeps.

The first week she wouldn’t really move out of her bed, but gradually I would hear her play with her toys and walk around and sniff the room when the lights were off and no one was watching, but as soon as the lights are turned on she would go back to her bed. She now moves all around, but it is still clear that she is battling with herself inside her mind and does not fully trust us, i.e. she will come to the living room for a minute and then run away back on to the stairs again where she feels safe.

She is more trusting now, but still has her own issues, i.e. she won’t eat if someone is watching her. My dogs eat in the kitchen, but she has not got to that stage yet, we started at my room and now she is eating on the stairs so we are getting there!

We also noticed she is terrified of men, my dad and Dawid have a hard time being with her as she just runs away, which again leads us to think whoever hurt her must have been a man, again another thing we need to work on.

There are many things that still need to be done, for example we can’t really take her on a walk right now because she might run away, she is terrified of cables and small bangs, the hairdryer and vacuum in particular, shes not fully house trained yet and is not fond of making eye contact. These are all things that will come with time, she has still made a lot of progress in a month, more than we thought she would!

Thank you for reading this post on my experience with my first stray, honestly, if you are considering taking on a stray, you need to do some research on it, make sure you will have the time as they are kind of like babies and really be ready for anything!

2020 Sum Up

2020 Sum Up

Hi Everyone,

Sthinking of 2020, awful year, right? I think anyone can agree, lockdown, pandemic and all. But I am sure some of you had some positives in the year, and I wanted to reflect on these with you today. Most of us gained some new skills and knowledge, found a new appreciation for the little things and worked on ourselves personally. I wanted to show you some of my best moments in 2020, hoping that maybe it can help you think of some too and not see 2020 as “that year” as everyone and the media want you to. Many of us have had losses, great ones this year, but try and see the light in the little things.

(use arrow keys to move through images)

I had the best 20th a girl could ask for surrounded by friends. I said goodbye to my love as I sent him off on his adventure for a semester abroad. I got my first full-time job. I got my first tattoo in memory of the best pupper to be. I went to Germany for the first time and had a little adventure. I had to move back home. I had time to reflect in the sun and focus on some hobbies. I got to see my family and friends in Poland. I got to do some local travelling. I helped my nan renovate my childhood home. I redecorated my room. I learnt how to use zoom and got to see my friends safely. I got through COVID. I welcomed little Sasha hammy into my life. I got festive. I welcomed a new pupper, Mortishia, into my life. I saw snow for the first time in years.

And that’s everything good that 2020 brought to me. I am thankful for all these moments and will forever be happy with them in my heart. Always try and take the good out of the bad situations, even if they end up being a whole year.

Christmas Tag

Christmas Tag

Hello everyone,

Sorry I disappeared for a while, had lots of work to do and just did not feel the inspiration, I am also planning a break over the Christmas period, but I will as always be active on my Instagram. Now, I thought as everyone liked my Halloween Tag so much, a Christmas tag is in order to be done, answers should be interesting as I am not much of a Christmassy person but here goes! Enjoy!

What’s your favourite Christmas Movie?

Does Nightmare Before Christmas count? Haha, probably not. I don’t really have a favourite, but if I had to pick one it would be The Grinch because I am the grinch πŸ˜‰ and I just love the story behind it. P.S. I hate Home Alone, judge me all you want I think its sooooo annoying.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes, as a child when I still lived in Poland, it was common, snow up to my head when I was 5, but in the UK not so much, not sure why we had so much snow but I would kill to see it again as I love snow, only had it in the UK a few times when I was 8 and 9 but never again unfortunately 😦

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home with my parents, as I still live with them but this will most likely be the last Christmas like this as when I graduate me and my boyfriend are planning to move out, so I am not sure how we will be diving family time then but I will be sure to let you know in my next Christmas tag!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I don’t really have one, again probably due to my lack of much interest in Christmas, but I used to have one as a kid, “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber. Don’t hate on me I was 14 and in love, and I had pure hate for the main actress in the video as many girls did then πŸ˜›

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Me and my family do simply because in Poland we do the whole Christmas dinner and presents on Christmas eve and then see family and invite people over on the 25th, so yes I do due to tradition. Not sure why but every time I say this to someone they are shocked, is it really that unusual?

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Not a chance πŸ˜› But I can name all of the characters in most Halloween movies if you ask me.

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

Normally, I would be looking forward to seeing my grandparents as normally during this time they fly in from Poland so we can spend Christmas together, but due to COVID they are not coming this year, so something I will be looking forward to is at least seeing them on video call πŸ™‚

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake, we used to get real ones all the time but my mom has gone crazy with the idea of glitter and fake snow on the tree so our Tesco tree is going strong for a 2nd year coming now.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

My mom makes this cheesecake with gingerbread in it, honestly I could eat it all year round, and shes adamant on only making it during Christmas time so time to make 4 batches!

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Giving obviously! I love seeing peoples faces light up when the gift you give shows that you have put thought and effort in to it, honestly my favourite feeling.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

I got the best telescope ever when I was a child because I was so into space, still waiting for someone to beat that one.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

New York, this is always top for me and my boyfriend to go one day during winter time. We just love the idea of going to America one day and during this time it would just be the ultimate dream!

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I used to see myself as an OK wrapper until my best friend put me to shame, she wraps things with such effort and care, my gifts look like the dog wrapped them next to hers.

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Is it sad I don’t really have one? Obviously every Christmas is great and filled with happiness but nothing ever really stands out for me, still have time to change that though πŸ™‚

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I was about 10 and found all the gifts in the storage section under the stairs. I was not even upset because I had a feeling for a while he was not real, I was just happy to find the gifts! So happy I wrote in my diary where my parents hide them to know for next year πŸ™‚

What makes the holidays special for you?

Just having family and friends over and getting some time off to reflect on the year and really rest, also the food!

I hope you enjoyed my little Christmas tag, I challange @simplyeverything to do this one, her answers will be much better than mine as she is a Christmas nut so make sure to check it out! I will be sure to update you on my Christmas break in the update section of the blog and my Instagram, until then stay safe!

Blessings

Blessings

Hi everyone,

Just writing a short post today, the first semester of university is coming to an end and there is a whole load of assignments and wrapping things up to do, so just bear with me for the coming weeks till Christmas, ill keep you updated as always! Today I wanted to write about something that I think all of us could give a little more consideration to during times like these, and these are the little blessings that we have around us that we don’t normally realise.

Think of the small things that have kept you sane during this pandemic, it might be a pet, or a game you play with your family or even TikTok that has kept you occupied! think of those things and always be grateful for them and keep them close as once this all passes, you need to remember to not take them for granted and appreciate them in the long run.

Count the blessings you always have around, it being family members or friends via online right now, cherish the time you have with them because you don’t know when the next time will be when you will have time to talk again, in our busy schedules as human beings.

Count the blessings of health and our enjoyment of the simple things, as these deteriorate and change over time, another thing you should see as a blessing, time. Spend your time wisely and on things that are important, as we only have a limited amount of time here on earth and we need to make the most of it, make it unforgettable.

My blessings during the pandemic are my family, my friends who have kept me sane, my boyfriend who always comes up with new things to do, even during the lockdown, making time for each other in our busy schedule. My blessings are also my pets, who always are there for comfort and happiness even in the darkest of times. My distractions are also my blessings during the pandemic, taking time to relax, watch some Netflix, participate in my hobbies and do some university work takes away from that reality of what is going on around us.

I want you to consider your blessings and everything around you, how lucky you are to have what you have. I hope you have enjoyed this very short post on blessings and see some of the ones around you. This post was inspired by my little hammy Pickle, who will be greatly missed by me and @simplyeverythingblog, being the best boy and will forever be remembered.
