Hi guys,
I am now deep into my holiday and on my way to my grandmother’s house for the remaining 2 weeks of my holiday in Poland, its been nice being with my boyfriends family but now I want to go to my city for some shopping as where he lives, let’s just say its a few houses and forest. Over my holiday, I have been doing some writing of course, as always, and started to think about all the different skills and professions we have in the world, you know, shower thoughts. Then I started to consider how little I knew and how I lack certain skills that come at ease to others around the world. Sure I may know how to write and I am good artistically to an extent but there is so much more to learn and do than what I know. So I decided to compose a list of things that I would love to learn how to do and maybe one day finally master, and I am sharing it with you! Let me know what you think or if you have any skills or things you would love to try. The list starts below:
1. Learn another language:
I know I already have 2 languages under my belt (Polish and English) But I see people all the time who know 3,4, even 5 languages and I really wish I knew more than my two basic ones. I love to travel the world so being able to go to a country and speak their native language would not only show effort but also be a nice surprise to natives and show respect. We often travel to different countries expecting for them to speak our language (mostly English) when we won’t even bother most of the time to learn theirs, which in some ways is a bit disrespectful but it’s just the way we travel I guess. The ones I really want to learn would be French, Italian or Spanish, but mostly Spanish, I don’t know why but I have always loved listening to it so much so I would love to learn it, I tried before but then I started university and I didn’t have any more time, typical.
2. Self-defence:
Another hobby/ skill that I abandoned and wish I had not, was karate. It was something I was forced in to as a child by my parents, I wanted to swim so for them this was the next best thing, so although I hated it at first I eventually started to enjoy it but as I got into my teen years I saw it as childish and gave up. I wasn’t amazing at it but it looked good enough to perform with maybe a few mistakes, but it was more about protection than precision. I wish I still remembered some of it or carried on as I guess in the world we live in now, it would be useful for self-defence at any moment, so it might be something I get back into when I have more time.

3. Play an instrument:
This is something I have been in and out of my whole childhood and early teen years. I tried to repress writing and art because I thought it was boring and tried to make myself a “musician”, well it didn’t work because I am awful at music, but I would love to try now that I am a bit more mature and have it as a side hobby. I tried the piano and guitar before, so I would be very willing to try these again as I loved doing it when I was a child but again I just was not very good at it, but my parents still cheered me on! My mom always wanted me to play the violin which is incredibly hard, and when played well I love the sound of, again like Spanish, maybe I should try that.
4. Learn how to dance:
I think I have mentioned this before, I hate dancing, I can’t do it, I have two left feet and I hate it. Its one of the many reasons why I also hate clubbing and going to weddings because I just can’t do it and I make a fool of myself. When I think of dancing I just want to hide forever but I know one day I will need it, ie for my own wedding. Just learning some basics would probably change my perspective on it and events that I need it for, I don’t need to be a full-on dancer, just want to know what to do if I get pulled on to the dance floor by a drunk uncle at a wedding, its not much to ask.
5. Sowing:
This is something I want to learn how to do but its not as important to me as the others. Obviously, if I rip clothing etc I know how to fix it and make it new again but I am more about sowing in terms of making my own clothing, it’s just something I see people do and I am amazed by and would love to try how to do on my own, I see it on shows like drag race all the time and I am in awe. Just something small and cool that came to mind and to show off about.
As always, I hope you have enjoyed this post and finding out about some skills I would love to learn how to master. Although knowing how to do these things would be nice, do not discredit the abilities you already have as they have got you so far and will continue to do so. Be grateful for what you know and seek further if you wish to do so.
Love, Kasia x
